Experimental Activity 3 Combustion Conditions Purpose 1.Gain a better understanding of combustion conditions and learn more about the principles of fire extinguishing. 2.Experience the process of experimental inquiry. Experimental supplies Beakers, inserts, ground pliers, alcohol, cotton, ping pong balls, alcohol lamp, tripod, thin copper sheet, filter paper, candle. Experimental content 1.Use cotton dipped in alcohol and water respectively, put it on the flame of an alcohol lamp and heat it for a while, and observe the phenomenon. 2.(1) Take a small piece of ping pong ball fragments and filter paper fragments, clamp them with ground worm pliers, heat them on the flame of an alcohol lamp, and observe the phenomenon. (2) Cut a small piece (of the same size) from the ping-pong ball and the filter paper, place them separately on both sides of a thin copper piece as shown in Figure 7-44 , heat the middle of the copper piece, and observe the phenomenon. 3. Using a candle and a beaker (or other supplies of choice), design a simple experiment to illustrate one of the conditions for combustion: oxygen (or air) is required . |
